Motif crochets can be categorized as 3 sections. Single motif crochets are created with a leitmotif in the central area and an edge crochet works around it. Piping motif crochets are created with a union of any single motif crochets side by side horizontally. And based on the design of single motif these designs can be used vertically as well. Single Motif Crochet
Single motif crochets are created with different size and shapes. Herbal motif, flower, fruit or leaves and symbolic shapes can be used in single motif crochet designs.
Motifs can be crocheted as round, triangle, square, rectangle, octagon, hexagon, 2,3 or 3 leaves models can be created as sliced edged. For the edges of the single motif crochets, clovers are manly used, the corners can be decorative or the central leitmotif is emphasized. In some models, you can even see 2 different leitmotifs. Single motif crochets can give you rich design possibilities.
Big or small single motif crochets can be used together to create a combination of different design to create runners, tablecloth, and also can be seamed to the fabrics to design different covers.
Piping Motif Crochet
Piping motif crochets are generally created with the union of single motifs crocheted and attached side by side horizontally. These crochets are used in runners, for the edges of the curtains, over the bedclothes and towels, over the cloths and dresses.
Piping motifs are used by zigzag seaming of their both edges because those are crocheted straight. If models’s edge has clovers or other decorations, one edge is seamed and other edge drops. Thus, edges of the covers look more rich and dynamic.
Group Motif Crochet
Because it is difficult to crochet the design as a whole, easiness of crocheting motifs one by one and and joining is preferable. That way, big curtains, tablecloths, bedspreads can be crocheted more comfortably.
Grup motifs can be used for tablecloths, on different type of napkins or curtains to decorate the fabric. With the different styles of the group motifs, classic and unorthodox ideas can be achieved for variety of cover designs.
